8 of the Best Summer Events in Azusa, California

Azusa, California, is a great place to live, with great weather all year round, family-friendly amenities, and abundant outdoor recreation possibilities. While it is always a top-notch city, there’s something special about summer in Azusa.

People of all ages will find a host of exciting summer events in Azusa. There’s no shortage of options to keep you busy throughout the season. If you are looking for ideas to entertain yourself and your family during the summer in Azusa, look no further. Here are some of the best ways to have fun this summer.

Summer Activities

Explore the Outdoors

Southern California is full of beautiful scenery, and Azusa has many amazing places to see during the summer. You can’t miss taking a hike to see the Bridge to Nowhere near Azusa, a strange and amazing feature over the San Gabriel River. The 10-mile-round-trip hike is totally worth the views.

If you enjoy fishing, the San Gabriel River has some great fishing spots , as do other streams in the area. A lucky fisherman might catch trout, carp, and bass in the San Gabriel River. Get out in the wild this summer and explore all the outdoor adventures that await you in Azusa.

Practice Summer Safety

Nothing puts a damper on summer fun like an injury. No matter what you choose to do this summer, make sure you are safe in your activities. Follow fireworks safety tips on the Fourth of July to ensure your show goes off without a hitch. Only set off legal fireworks, and have water nearby to take care of any problem. Don’t hold fireworks while lighting, and never throw them at others.

If you are grilling with family and friends, keep kids away from the grill area. Check the grill out before you use it for the first time each year. Make sure a propane grill doesn’t have any gas leaks, and never operate a gas or charcoal grill indoors.

For water fans, be sure to practice water safety , even if you are a good swimmer. Never leave kids unattended around water, and do not swim alone. Following these safety tips can help families enjoy their summer activities without any unexpected problems.

Events

Run a Marathon

Kick off your Fourth of July festivities with a morning half-marathon . The Stars and Stripes half marathon will be held on July 2 at 7:30 a.m. in Long Beach. This fun, clock-timed race includes a half marathon, a 15K, a 10K, and a 5K. You can even throw your kids in a jogging stroller and take them along.

Go for an Epic Bike Ride

If a half marathon isn’t enough for you, throw in an epic bike ride to go with it. The Cal Tri July 4th Epic Ride to Mt. Baldy is an experience you won’t forget. The bike ride starts on July 4 at 7 a.m. at Pioneer Park in Azusa. Riders will leave Pioneer Park and continue up to Baldy Village before stopping for refreshments. At Baldy Village, riders can either head back or continue on to the Mt. Baldy Lifts for lunch. Riders will have three route options of between 27 and 68 miles. The ride will be a tough one, but a great way to celebrate Independence Day.

Enjoy Some Fireworks

Lighting sparklers in the driveway doesn’t hold a candle to the Fourth of July celebration you can take part in at the Irwindale Speedway . Head to the speedway on July 2 for a night of destruction, followed by fireworks. The gates open at 4 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m. The cars and fireworks will put on a show that you’ll remember for years to come.
