In an effort to not let the closure of our gyms in Azusa halt our daily and weekly workout cadences, many people have transformed their apartments into convenient fitness centers. If you’re ready to mix up your routine, or you’ve been searching for some motivation, here are three amazing exercise methodologies that will inspire you to continue working towards your health goals.
TRX
Developed by a former Navy SEAL, TRX (Total Resistance exercise) is a body training system that relies on bodyweight and suspension to build stability, core strength, and flexibility. Using a TRX-specific strap system, exercises such as tricep dips, lunges, bicep curls, squats, planks, and sit-ups are extremely intensified. For instance, a TRX lunge can be intensified as your back leg gets suspended with the strap, increasing the challenge of balancing in the exercise.
HIIT
This method has been voted as one of the top fitness trends in 2020 by many fitness professionals. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a cardio-forward workout that uses short bursts of intense physicality, from 20 to 90 seconds, with short periods of lower-intensity exercise.
Videos
While the times—and many exercise methods—have changed, there’s one thing that hasn’t: workout videos. They are still a wonderful tool to keep your fitness journey at your DIY home gym. Pull up those workouts on Vimeo or YouTube, or pop in a new dance-filled workout on DVD. You can choose from a Bollywood workout, Zumba, Beachbody CIZE, and many more.
Whether you are hoping to accelerate your workout at home with some high-intensity methods, try something completely new like TRX, or dance your way into a fit body, your apartment can easily go from home to gym and back. Find what works for you and go for it!
